Dr. Marie Lazarus was the primary technician for RoboCop at the Metro West precinct.

Biography[]

Despite being commanded to do so by OCP executive Jeff Fleck, Lazarus refused to implant a micro-neuro barrier that would remove RoboCop's emotions and memories. Instead, she smashed the implant. Shortly afterward, RoboCop joined forces with a group of rebels that were resisting the OCP eviction and takeover of their homes and communities. Paul McDaggett of the Rehabs accused RoboCop of murdering his own partner, Anne Lewis, news that baffled Lazarus.[1]

She was then contacted by the young hacker, Nikko, who informed her that RoboCop had been badly damaged after taking a grenade to the chest and needed her help. Dr. Lazarus decided to help RoboCop and joined forces with the rebels and moved all of her gear from the lab to their hideout.[1]

She impressed the rebels with her technical skills by operating on RoboCop, which involved replacing his mechanical heart. She also freed RoboCop of his fourth directive, "Never oppose an OCP officer," allowing him to avenge for Lewis. She impressed the rebels further after she informed them that expensive looking item they stole from the police armory, Ordnance Depot 7, was a prototype for RoboCop's flightpack, which she designed. This gave the rebels the feeling that they might actually have a chance with her around to help.[1]

Lazarus spent a great amount of time with the orphaned hacker Nikko, who impressed Lazarus by her ability to hack into the hideout's power grid and dim the lights. When the Rehabs attacked the hideout she managed to get Nikko to safety before being captured by McDaggett, recognizing him from RoboCop's recordings as the murderer of Officer Lewis.[1]

While locked away, Nikko appeared in the ventilation shaft and hacked into the transmitter dish outside so that Dr. Lazarus could send an illegal transmission to the people of Detroit. After seeing the transmission, two guards rushed to the room, only for one of them to be hit by a step-ladder by Lazarus. She then took a gun and locked the guards in the room.[1]

Nikko and Dr. Lazarus arrived at the top of the OCP tower just in time to help RoboCop fight the Otomo androids. Nikko reprogrammed them to fight each other and they chopped each other's heads off. This angered McDaggett, as both androids had a fail-safe device armed with an atom bomb. RoboCop rolled into his flightpack, burned McDaggett's legs and flew away with Lazarus and Nikko in tow, making it to safety as the tower exploded behind them.[1]
